Super Easy Scones

Getting up early to bake scones isn’t really for everybody, luckily you won’t have to do that if you are making these ones. They take roughly 30 minutes start to finish and don’t require any rest time.

You could also prepare these the night before, keep them in the fridge and just bake them in the morning. (You might need to add ca. 5 minutes of bake time to do that).

Super Easy Scones

Servings: 4

  • 2 Cups Flour All Purpose
  • ¾ Cup Milk
  • ¼ Cup Butter (roughly 60g)
  • 2 Tbs Sugar White, granulated
  • ¾ Tbs Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg beaten, to brush the top – can be replaced with 1 Tbs Milk

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare a baking tray with baking paper
  • First combine Butter, Sugar, Baking Powder and Flour into an even, sandy mixture. You want to keep the butter as cold as possible so ideally you should have cold hands or a use a fork to to that.
  • Now add your milk and mix just until it forms a shaggy dough. You want to avoid overmixing, it will look wrong and ruined but its not – trust me.
  • Tip the dough out onto a floured worksurface and work it just enough so it stays together. Flatten it into a 2cm high disk and cut out your scones. You can use a glass if you dont have a round cutter.
  • Place them on the baking sheet and brush the tops with either beaten egg or a bit of milk. If you like you can add an extra sprinkling of sugar to the tops.
  • Bake them for ca. 15 – 20 Minutes and enjoy, ideally while they are still warm!
