French Onion Soup

A classic French onion soup recipe.

  • 250 g Yellow Onion sliced
  • 1 Clove Garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • ½ tbsp Flour
  • 2 cups Broth Vegetable or Chicken
  • ½ cup White Wine
  • ¼ cup Gruyere or Emmenthal Cheese
  • 4 Slices Baguette


  • Cut your onions into rings and mince your garlic clove
  • Add your butter to a sauce pan and add the onions, slowly caramelize them on medium heat until they start turning golden brown
  • Add the garlic to the pan and fry it off with the onions
  • Add the flour to the pan by sprinkling it over the onions and garlic and stirring it all together, let the flour cook out for about one minute.
  • Add the broth and white wine and let it come to a simmer, cover it with a lid and let it simmer for 20 mins on low heat.
  • Place your baguette slices on a baking sheet and add your grated cheese on top. Place it in a hot oven until they cheese is melted and golden brown.
  • Serve and enjoy!
